Alā Yā Allah Binaẓrat – Seeking a Gaze from Allah

Chorus 1 #

أَلاَ يَا الله بِنَظْرَة مِنَ الْعَيْنِ الرَّحِيْمـَة

alā yā allah binaẓrat mina al-ʻayni al-raḥīmah

O Allah, send down your mercy by Your Gaze

تُدَاوِي كُلَّ مَا بِي مِنْ أَمْرَاضٍ سَقِيْمَة

tudāwī kulla mā bī min amrāḍin saqīmah

That will cure all my ailments in me

ألاَ ياَ صَاحِ يا صَاحِ لاَ تَجْزَعْ وتَضْجَرْ

alā yā ṣāḥi yā ṣāḥi lā tajzaʻ wataḍjar

O my friend do not be overburdened with worries

وسَلِّمْ لِلْمَقَادِيْـر كَيْ تُحْمَدْ وتُؤْجـَرْ

wasallim lil-maqādīr kay tuḥmad watuʼjar

And submit to God’ decrees so that you become praiseworthy and rewarded

وَكُـنْ رَاضِي بِمَا قَدَّرَ المَوْلَى ودَبَّـر

wakun rāḍī bimā qaddara almawlā wadabbar

And be content with that the Master has decreed

وَلاَ تَسْخَطْ قَضَا اللهِ رَبِّ الْعَرْشِ اْلأَكْبَر

walā taskhaṭ qaḍā allah rabbi al-ʻarshi al-akbar

And do not have any displeasure with the decree of Allah, Lord of the Lofty Throne

وَكُنْ صَابِرْ وَشَاكِرْ

wakun ṣābir washākir

And be patient and grateful

4 #

تَكُنْ فَائِزْ وَظَافِـرْ

takun fāʼiz waẓāfir

You will become victorious and rewarded

5 #

وَمِنْ أَهْلِ السَّرَائـِر

wamin ahl al-sarāʼir

And be from the people of Inward Secrets

6 #

رِجَالِ اللهِ مِنْ كُلِّ ذِيْ قَلْبٍ مُنـَوَّرٍ

rijāl allah min kulli dhī qalbin munawwar

The people of Allah have an illuminated heart

مُصَفًّى مِنْ جَمِيْعِ الدَّنَسِ طَيِّبٍ مُطَهَّرٍ

muṣaffan min jamīʻi al-danas ṭayyibin muṭahhar

that is purified from all dirt, pure, and a purification for others

7 #

وَذِهْ دُنْيـَا دَنِيـَّة حَوَادِثُهَا كَثِـيْرَة

wadhih dunyā daniyyah ḥawādithuhā kathīrah

And this lowly world, it’s problems are many in every moment,

وَعِيْشَـتُهَا حَقِيْرَة وَمُدَّتُهَا قَصـِيْرَة

waʻīshatuhā ḥaqīrah wamuddatuhā qaṣīrah

and life within it does not have a value

8 #

وَلاَ يَحْرِصْ عَلَيْهَا سِوَى أَعْمَى الْبَصِيْرَة

walā yaḥriṣ ʻalayhā siwā aʻmā al-baṣīrah

And one does not seek this dunya unless their sight is completely blinded.

عَدِيْمُ الْعَقْلِ لَوْ كَانَ يَعْقِلْ كَانَ أَفْكـَر

ʻadīmu al-ʻaqli law kāna yaʻqil kāna afkar

If they had an intellect, they would have been more reflective.

9 #

تَفَكِّرْ فِي فَنَاهـَا

tafakkir fī fanāhā

Reflect over the fading of this world.

10 #

وَفِي كَثْرَةِ عَنَاهَا

wafī kathrat ʻanāhā

And on the great difficulties that occur.

11 #

وَفِي قِلَّةِ غِنَاهـَا

wafī qillat ghnāhā

And on the low worth of its value.

12 #

فَطُوْبَى ثُمَّ طُوْبَى لِمَنْ مِنْـهَا تَحَـذَّرْ

faṭūbā thumma ṭūbā liman minhā taḥaḍḍar

So blessed, truly blessed, is to the who is careful of it,

وَطَلَّقَهَا وَفِي طَاعَةِ الرَّحْمنِ شَمَرْ

waṭallaqahā wafī ṭāʻati al-raḥmani shammar

and who divorced the world and focus themselves towards obedience of their Lord.

13 #

أَلاَ يَا عَيْن جُوْدِيْ بِدَمْعٍ مِنْكِِ سَائِـلْ

alā yā ʻayn jūdī bidamʻin mink sāʼil

Oh my eye! Let the tears flow

عَلَى ذَاكَ الْحَبِيْبِ الَّذِيْ قَدْ كَانَ نَازِلْ

ʻalā dhāka al-ḥabīb alladhī qad kāna nāzil

regarding that beloved that used to be with us,

14 #

مَعَنَا فِي الْمَرَابِعْ وَأَصْبَحَ سَفَر رَاحِلْ

maʻanā fī al-marābiʻ wa-aṣbaḥa safar rāḥil

Who then went on their journey,

وَأَمْسَى الْقَلْبُ وَالْبَالُ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ مُكَدَّ

wa-amsā al-qalbu wal-bālu min baʻdihi mukaddar

and my heart and mind after them have become overtaken

15 #

وَلكـِنْ حَسْبِيَ الله

walakin ḥasbīya allah

But Allah is my Sufficiency,

16 #

وَكـُلُّ الأَمْرِ للـهِ

wakullu al-amri lillah

And the entire affair belongs to Allah,

17 #

وَلاَ يَبْقَى سِوَى الله

walā yabqā siwā allah

And no one remains except Allah.

18 #

عَلَى بَشَّارِ جَادَتْ سَحَائِبْ رَحْمَةِ الْبَرّ

ʻalā bashshāri jādat saḥāʼib raḥmati al-barr

Upon Bashar have come the clouds of Allah’s mercy,

وَحَيَّاهُمْ بِرَوْحِ الرِّضـَا رَبِّي وَبَشَّـرْ

waḥayyāhum bi-rūḥi al-riḍā rabbi wabashshar

and Allah has given them glad tidings and has blessed them.

19 #

بِهَـا سَادَاتُـنَا وَالشُّيُوْخُ الْعَارِفُوْنَـا

bihā sādātunā wal-shuyūkhu al-ʻārifūnā

Within it are our Masters, teachers,

وَأَهـْلُوْنَا وَأَحْبـَابِ قَلْبِيْ نَازِلُوْنَـا

wa-ahlūnā wa-aḥbābi qalbī nāzilūnā

our family and our loved ones; those who are beloved to my heart are there.

20 #

وَمَنْ هُمْ فِي سَرَائِرِ فُؤَادِيْ قَاِطِنُوْنَـا

waman hum fī sarāʼiri fuʼādī qātinūnā

And those who have taken residence in the deepest depths of my heart.

بِسَاحَةِ تُرْبِهَا مِنْ ذَكِيِّ الْمِسْكِ أَعْطَر

bisāḥati turbihā min dhakīyi al-miski aʻṭar

And in this plain of the graveyard, its dust is more beautiful than musk.

21 #

مَنَازِلُ خَيْرِ سَادَة

manāzilu khayri sādah

Because it is the resting place of the best of the Sayyids,

22 #

لِكُلِّ النَّاسِ قَادَة

likulli al-nāsi qādah

Exemplars for all people,

23 #

مَحَبَّتَهُمْ سَعَادَة

maḥabbatuhum saʻādah

Loving them is felicity,

24 #

أَلاَ يَا بَخْت مَنْ زَارَهُمْ بِالصِّدْقِ وانْدَر

alā yā bakht man zārahum bil-ṣidqi wandar

Fortunate is the one who visits them with sincerity.

إِلَيْـهِمْ مُعْتَنـِي كُلُّ مَطْلُوْبِهِ تَيَسـَّرْ

ilayhim muʻtanī kullu maṭlūbih tayasṣar

By the blessing of visiting them, what they seek from Allah will come.
