| وَلَيْسَتْ لِلْغَوَانِي وَالْأَغَانِي |
| walay-sat li-l-ghawānī wa-l-aġānī |
| And they were not for fair maids or melodies, |

| وَلَا لِلشَّهَوَاتِ الدُّنْيَوِيَّهِ |

| وَلَا لِلغَانِيَاتِ بِأَيِّ مَعْنَى |
| walā li-l-ġāniyāti bi-ayyi maʿnā |

| وَلَكِن لِلْأُمُورِ الْعُلُويَّه |

| حَقَائِقُ بَلْ رَقَائِقُ قَد تَسَامَت |
| ḥaqāʾiqu bal raqāʾiqu qad tasāmat |
