Shī' li-llāh yā Ramaḍān - Grant us for Allah's sake, O Ramadan

Chorus 1#

Shī' li-llāh yā Ramaḍān
O Ramadan, for the sake of Allah,
Shī' li-llāh yā Ramaḍān
O Ramadan, for the sake of Allah,
Shī' li-llāh yā Ramaḍān
O Ramadan, for the sake of Allah,
bi-l-qabūli wa-l-ghufrāni
with acceptance and forgiveness.

yā Ḥannān yā Mannān
O Tenderly Compassionate, O Ever‑Bestowing,
yā Qadīma l-Iḥsāni
O Eternal Giver of kindness,
baḥru jūdika malyān
Your sea of generosity is overflowing
jud lanā bi-l-ghufrāni
grant us Your forgiveness.

rabbanā nastaʿfīka
Our Lord, we seek Your pardon,
rabbanā nastarḍīka
Our Lord, we seek to please You.
wa-lanā ẓannun fīka
We hold hope in You,
yā rajā'a ahli l-īmāni
refuge for the faithful hearts.

lā tukhayyibu rājī
Do not disappoint one who hopes,
taḥta bābika lā jī
who seeks refuge beneath Your door.
lam yazal fī d-dājī
He has not ceased, in the dark night,
qā'ilan yā Ḥannān
calling, “O Most Tenderly Merciful.”

bi-n-nabiyyi l-ummī
By the unlettered Prophet
wa-Khadīja ummī
and Khadijah, Mother of Believers,
wa-l-Batūli l-Khatmi
And the chaste Fatimah,
sayyidāti n-niswān
leader of virtuous women.

wa-ṣ-ṣalātu d-dā'im
And blessings perpetual,
ʿalā n-nabiyyi bni Hāshim
upon the Prophet, son of Hashim,
ʿadda man huwa qā'im
As numerous as those who stand
bi-l-ʿibādati sahrān
in worship, wakeful through the night.
