صِفْهُ لِي يَا مَنْ رَأَيْتَ الحِبَّ لَيْلاً
ṣifhu lī yā man raʾayta al-ḥibba laylan
Describe him to me, oh you who saw the beloved at night
إِنَّ عَيْنِي تَشْتَهِي ذَاكَ الجَمَالَا
inna ʿaynī tashtahī dhāka al-jamāla
my eyes long for that beauty.

صِفْ جَمِيلاً كَامِلاً خَلْقاً وَخُلُقاً
ṣif jamīlan kāmilan khalqan wa-khuluqan
Describe a beautiful being, perfect in creation and manners
مِنْ جَمَالِ الذَّاتِ قَدْ حَازَ الكَمَالَا
min jamāli al-dhāti qad ḥāza al-kamāla
From divine beauty, he has attained perfect beauty.

صِفْ مَلِيحاً طَرْفُهُ أسْبَى العَوَالِمْ
ṣif malīḥan ṭarfuhu asbā al-ʿawālim
Describe a captivating one, whose gaze enchanted the worlds
صِفْ وَجِيهاً وَجْهُهُ حَازَ الكَمَالَا
ṣif wajīhan wajhuhu ḥāza al-kamāla
describe a noble face that has achieved perfection.

صِفْهُ لِي بِالسُّنْدُسِيَّةِ حِيْنَ يَبْدُو
ṣifhu lī bi-al-sundusiyya ḥīna yabdū
Describe him to me in his silken garment
كَامِلَ الأَوْصَافِ قَدْ مَلَكَ الدَّلَالَا
kāmil al-awṣāfi qad malaka al-dalāla
with perfect attributes, he has mastered grace.

صِفْ عُيُونَ الهَاشِمِي صِفْ لِي المُحَيَّا
ṣif ʿuyūna al-hāshimī ṣif lī al-muḥayyā
Describe the eyes of the Hashemite, describe to me the countenance
صِفْ لِي ثَغْراً بِابْتِسَامَتِهِ تَلَالَا
ṣif lī thaghra bi-ibtisāmatihi talāla
describe to me a mouth whose smile glows.

صِفْ جَمِيلاً أكْحَلاً مِنْ غَيْرِ كُحْلٍ
ṣif jamīlan akḥalan min ghayr kuḥl
Describe a beautiful one with naturally lined eyes
أدْعَجاً عَيْنَاهُ تُنْسِيكَ الغَزَالَا
adʿajan ʿaynāhu tunsīka al-ghazāla
whose dark eyes make you forget the gazelle.

صِفْ غَضُوضَ الطَّرفِ بَسَّامُ المُحَيَّا
ṣif ghaḍūḍa al-ṭarfi bassām al-muḥayyā
Describe a modest gaze and a smiling countenance
أنْجَلاً تُنْسِيكَ طَلْعَتُهُ الهِلَالَا
anjalan tunsīka ṭalʿatuhu al-hilāla
whose bright appearance makes you forget the moon.

صِفْ جَمِيلَ القَدِّ وَرْدِيَّ الوِجَانَا
ṣif jamīla al-qaddi wardiyya al-wijāna
Describe the beautiful stature with a rosy face
صِفْ مَلِيحاً حُسْنُهُ فَاقَ الخَيَالَا
ṣif malīḥan ḥusnuhu fāqa al-khayāla
describe a captivating beauty that surpasses imagination.

صِفْ بِهِ عُنُقاً مُنِيراً كَوكَبِياً
ṣif bihi ʿunuqan munīran kawkabiyya
Describe a neck that shines like a star
صِفْ جَمِيْلًا نُورُهُ فِي الكَونِ لَالَا
ṣif jamīlan nūruhu fī al-kawni lālā
describe a beautiful one whose light fills the universe.

صِفْ ضَلِيعَ الفَمِ بَرَّاقَ الثَّنَايَا
ṣif ḍalīʿa al-fami barrāqa al-thanāyā
Describe a mouth with gleaming teeth
صِفْ نَدِيَّ الرَّاحِ مِنْهُ الغَيْتُ سَالَا
ṣif nadīya al-rāḥi minhu al-ghaytu sāla
describe hands from which rain flows like nectar.

صِفْ طَوِيلَ الهُدْبِ صِفْ أنْفَاً كَسَيْفٍ
ṣif ṭawīla al-hudbi ṣif anfan ka-sayf
Describe long eyelashes, describe a sword edge nose
صِفْ أَزَجَّ الحَاجِبَيْنِ بِلَا اتِّصالَاً
ṣif azajja al-ḥājibayn bi-lā ittiṣāla
describe arched eyebrows that do not meet.

11#

صِفْ نَبِيّاً قَدْ أَتَى مِنْ قَبْلِ آدَمْ
ṣif nabīyan qad atā min qabli Ādam
Describe a prophet who came before Adam
جَلَّ مَنْ سَوَّاهُ لَيْسَ لَهُ مِثَالَاً
jalla man sawwāhu laysa lahu mithāla
glorified be the One who created him, with no equal.

12#

أَبْصَرَتْ عَيْنَاكَ طَلْعَةَ مُصْطَفَانَا
abṣarat ʿaynāka ṭalʿata muṣṭafānā
Your eyes beheld the beauty of the chosen one.
قُلْ بِرَبِّكَ كَيْفَ أَدْرَكْتَ الوِصَالَا
qul bi-rabbika kayfa adraktā al-wiṣāla
By your Lord, reveal to me the secret of how you forged that connection.

13#

كَمْ أُنَادِي يَا أَبَا الزَهْرَاءْ أَقْبِل
kam unādī yā abā al-zahrāʾ aqbil
How much I call, O father of Zahra, come forth
كَمْ أُنَادِي يَا أَبَا الزَهرَاء تَعَالَ
kam unādī yā abā al-zahrāʾ taʿālā
how much I call, O father of Zahra, come.

14#

صِحْتُ وَاشَوْقَاه وَجْداً يَا حَبِيبِي
ṣiḥtu wa-ashawqāh wajdan yā ḥabībī
I cried out in longing, oh my beloved
إِنَّ عَيْنِي تَشْتَهِي ذَاكَ الجَمَالَا
inna ʿaynī tashtahī dhāka al-jamāla
my eyes long for that beauty.
