Yā ʾImāma r-Rusli - O Leader of the Messengers
Chorus 1 #
يَا إِمَامَ الرُّسْلِ يَا سَنَدِي
yā ʾimāma r-rusli yā sanadī
O Leader of the Messengers, O My Support,
أَنْتَ بَابُ اللهِ مُعْتَمَدِي
ʾanta bābu llāhi muʿtamadī
you are the door to Allah, my reliance!
فَبِدُنْيَايَ وَآخِرَتِي
fabidunyāyā wa-ākhiratī
In my life and in my hereafter,
يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ خُذْ بِيَدِي
yā rasūla llāhi khudh biyadī
O Messenger of Allah take my hand

قَسَمًا بِالنَّجْمِ حِينَ هَوَى
qasaman bin-najmi ḥīna hawā
I swear by the falling star,
مَا الْمُعَافَى وَالسَّقِيمُ سَوَا
ma l-muʿāfā wal-saqīmu sawā
the healthy and the sick are not alike
فَاخْلَعِ الْكَوْنَيْنِ عَنْكَ سِوَى
fākhlaʿi l-kawnayni ʿanka siwā
So renounce both worlds
حُبِّ مَوْلَى الْعُرْبِ وَالْعَجَمِ
ḥubbi mawlā l-ʿurbi wal-ʿajami
apart from love for the master of the Arabs and non-Arabs

سَيِّدُ السَّادَاتِ مِنْ مُضَرِ
sayyidu s-sādāti min Muḍar
The master of masters from Mudar,
غَوْثُ أَهْلِ الْبَدْوِ وَالْحَضَرِ
ghawthu ahlil-badwi wal-ḥaḍar
the saviour of people of the desert and cities
صَاحِبُ الْآيَاتِ وَالسُّوَرِ
ṣāḥibu l-āyāti was-suwari
The owner of the verses and chapters (Holy Quran),
مَنْبَعُ الْأَحْكَامِ وَالْحِكَمِ
manbaʿu l-aḥkāmi wal-ḥikami
the source of laws and wisdom

قَمَرٌ طَابَتْ سَرِيرَتُهُ
qamarun ṭābat sariiratuhu
The illuminated Prophet, whose heart was sweet
وَسَجَايَاهُ وَسِيرَتُهُ
wa sajāyāhu wa siratuhu
as were his ethics and way of life
صَفْوَةُ الْبَارِي وَخِيرَتُهُ
ṣafwatu l-bāri wa khīratuhu
The Elect of the Creator and his Chosen One
عَدْلُ أَهْلِ الْحِلِّ وَالْحَرَمِ
ʿadlu ahlil-ḥilli wal-ḥarami
-a just witness for the people of resolve and wrongdoing

مَا رَأَتْ عَيْنٌ وَلَيْسَ تَرَى
mā raʾat ʿaynun wa laysa tarā
No eye has seen or ever will see a human
مِثْلَ طَهَ فِي الْوَرَى بَشَرَا
mithla Ṭāha fī l-wara basharā
like Ta-Ha (Muhammad) in all creation
خَيْرُ مَنْ فَوْقَ الثَّرَى أَثَرَا
khayru man fawqa th-tharā atharā
He is the best of whomever left traces upon the earth,
طَاهِرُ الْأَخْلَاقِ وَالشِّيَمِ
ṭāhiru l-akhlaqi wa sh-shīmi
pure in noble character and disposition

جَاوَزَ السَّبْعَ الطَّبَاقَ إِلَى
jāwaza s-sabʿa ṭ-ṭabaqa ʾilā
He surpassed the seven heavens,
قَابَ قَوْسَيْنِ اسْتَمَرَّ عُلَا
qāba qawsayni istamarru ʿulā
To the point where the two bows met, exalted.
وَأَحَالَتْهُ الْحُظُوْظُ عَلَى
wa ʾaḥālat-hu l-ḥuẓūẓu ʿalā
And destiny guided him
سِرِّ عِلْم اللَّوْحِ وَالْقَلَمِ
sirri ʿilmi l-lawḥi wal-qalam
To the secret of knowledge, inscribed on the tablet and the pen.

نَالَ عِنْدَ اللهِ مَوْهِبَةً
nāla ʿinda llāhi mawhibatan
He attained from Allah a gift,
لِعَظِيْمِ الْفَضْلِ مُوْجِبَةً
liʿẓīmi l-faḍli mūjibatan
A favour of immense magnitude.
يَا أَعَزَّ النَّاسِ مَرْتَبَةً
yā ʾaʿzza n-nāsi martabatan
O most honoured of people,
عُدْ بِفَضْلِ الْجُوْدِ وَالْكَرَمِ
ʿud bi-faḍli l-jūdi wal-karami
Count the blessings of generosity and grace.
